Aleksander Nilaj is the right man for the residents of the district who need a meal.
Nilaj, 48, an Albanian immigrant who is the construction manager of Pelham Parkway, spends most days of the week delivering food to distribution points and to all those in need. Through the Albanian American Open Hand Association, which he founded in 2012, Nilaj has organized the pick-up and delivery of tens of thousands of food ingredients to individuals and nonprofit groups in the Bronx.
